Halal Trace

A halal ingredient scanner for iOS and Android.

Halal Trace checks every ingredient in a packaged food product — scanned from its barcode or read off a photograph of its label — against a curated knowledge base, and tells you where the product stands and which ingredient decided it. When the answer isn't certain, it says so rather than guessing.

Where AI comes in

Nearly every verdict comes from the on-device knowledge base and a fixed set of rules, so the same product gives the same answer every time, offline and without anything being uploaded. For a product nobody has assessed before, an AI model reads the ingredient list once — and that verdict is marked as AI-assessed in the app, so you always know how an answer was reached.

Halal Trace is a tool for reading and assessing ingredients, not a religious authority, and its verdicts are not fatwas. The product site sets out in full what that means and where the data comes from.
